IT support for accountants London — hosted servers, practice software, full compliance
Pacific Infotech Group provides IT support specifically built for London accounting practices — hosted Sage, IRIS and TaxCalc environments, ICAEW cybersecurity code of practice compliance, GDPR-aligned data handling and a helpdesk staffed by engineers who know practice software. We have supported accounting firms for over fifteen years.
Practice software we support and host
Hosted accounting servers
Hosted Sage, IRIS and TaxCalc environments — managed for you
Most London accounting practices no longer want to manage their own server hardware. Our hosted accounting server packages give your team access to their practice software from anywhere — with backups, patching, uptime and support all included.
Sage, IRIS and TaxCalc pre-configured
Your hosted server arrives with your accounting applications already installed, licensed and tested. No lengthy setup, no conflicts with local machines — just a ready environment your team logs into from day one.
Access from anywhere — office, home or client site
Hosted accounting servers are accessible via secure remote desktop from any device. Your team works in the same environment whether they are in the office or at home, with no local installation required.
Automatic backups and 7-year retention
Your data is backed up daily to an offsite UK data centre. Retention is configured to meet HMRC and professional indemnity requirements — files remain retrievable for seven years, tested and guaranteed.
Dedicated account manager and helpdesk
Every hosted accounting client gets a named account manager and access to a practice-specialist helpdesk. When Sage throws an error the morning of a filing deadline, you call someone who has seen it before.
Hosted accounting server pricing
Simple, transparent per-user pricing
All-inclusive pricing covers the hosted server, application licences, daily backups, patching, monitoring and practice-specialist helpdesk support. No hidden costs, no per-incident charges for standard support.
- ✓ Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc and all major practice packages supported
- ✓ UK-hosted data centres — GDPR compliant data residency
- ✓ Dedicated account manager included
- ✓ Named helpdesk — same engineers every time you call
Operational realities
What accounting firms actually need from IT support
Practice software dependencies, filing season peaks, ICAEW compliance and long retention obligations make accounting firm IT a distinct brief — not a generic SMB one.
Practice software that runs without issues — especially in January
Accounting firms live inside their practice software — Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc, CCH, Xero. These applications have specific infrastructure requirements, licensing models and integration dependencies. When practice software slows, crashes or fails to print a tax return at 9pm on 31 January, the consequences are immediate. Your IT partner needs to have installed, configured and troubleshot these applications in practice environments before — not learned on your time.
Hosted accounting servers — the right environment for most practices
Most London accounting practices are moving away from managing their own on-premise servers. A hosted accounting server gives your team secure access to Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc and your other applications from anywhere, without you managing the hardware, backups or patching. We provide, configure and manage hosted accounting environments specifically built around practice software requirements — not generic cloud servers with accounting software awkwardly installed on top.
ICAEW cybersecurity code of practice
The ICAEW's cybersecurity code of practice sets out expectations for member firms on access control, data protection, network security and incident response. Compliance requires a full evaluation of your current systems and risks, followed by execution of recommendations — configuration changes, patching schedules, backup strategies and access control reviews. We map your IT estate against the code and implement what's missing, with documented evidence.
GDPR and client data confidentiality
Accounting firms hold sensitive financial data for individuals and businesses — personal data under GDPR. The ICO expects appropriate technical controls: access segregation between client files, MFA on all remote access and audit logs showing who accessed what and when. A data breach involving client financial information is a regulatory event, not just an IT incident. Your IT setup needs to reflect that.
January and July are not normal months
Tax return season creates predictable IT demand surges — more concurrent users, heavier storage, more client portals active. Infrastructure that handles eleven months adequately may fail the two that matter. IT capacity planning for an accounting practice has to account for the cyclical peaks. Hosted server environments scale more predictably than local infrastructure and are less likely to fail under seasonal load.
Document retention — seven years, tested and retrievable
HMRC requires accounting records for a minimum of six years; best practice for client files is seven. Backup systems must be designed for long-term retention — files that exist today must still be retrievable in 2032. Many practices discover their backup retention policy does not match their document retention obligation only when they need to retrieve something old. We configure retention from the outset and test it annually.
